Oraletta's Adventure

Being a member of the Family of God, which is both local and global; I would like to share specific issues about the adventure The Lord and I are on dealing with lung cancer. I want to do this so that those who are praying for me will be better informed.

"Suffering" through "A Facial" :)

Hello Everyone,
July 12th. was our dead line for paying property taxes. What a drag that is. However, on the good notes we finished two weeks of radiation/ chemo treatments with no complications so far. That that is to be applaud. How thankful we must be for our God's Blessings.

NOW LADIES, DO YOU REMEMBER ME TELLING YOU THAT I WAS GOING TO HAVE A "FACIAL ON TODAY ( THURS.13TH.)?

Well ladies, I "suffered" ( truly enjoyed every minute) of that facial today. It was the most wonderful thing. When I walked into this "very plush room" the soft music was playing, the sound of water ( a rock water fall) was running. The smell of sweet herb scents. Oh ladies, it was wonderful. I even had the "hot wax" on my hands and then wrapped in plastic, (does it sound like I am suffering yet?). Gals, it was absolutely soothing to ones attitude.
Isn't it wonderful the all the gifts that God gives us in the mist of adversity. OH YES, I AM HAVING MY FEET DONE ON TUES.(July 17th.).
Now once she was finished, and I got ready to leave, I almost forgot that I was at Cleveland Clinic Hospital in the radiology dept.

Now I was thinking as I drove to the hospital this morning ( as a matter a fact most mornings), how wonderful it is that I can get up and have that beautiful drive in the early morning (7:00a) up Geauga Lake Rd. and across Fields and on into downtown Cleveland. I drive through the City and meet the challenge of the city traffic and see all the new buildings that are up and still going up. The sound of the city brings back memories that are not so bad.

Now I suppose you say okay, what about the cancer. Well, as far as I know. We'll still working on it. As I said earlier there are no complication. So we will continue to do what we are doing until the end of treatment. Once there is a change in my condition I will update you.

"Pray that I will experience His amazing grace and plan, and that He will be glorified through me."
Also, don't forget to pray for "ALL THE VERY SICK PEOPLE THAT I SEE EVERY DAY AT THE CLINIC".

I Love you all with the Love of the Lord,

Oraletta (for us both)

Continuing the Adventure

Hello Everyone!
I'm a little late with the update as some of you probably have observed, however let's take care of that right now.

Before we get into the details of treatment and all of that let's begin with a little devotion.
When I was first diagnosed with this lung cancer I said to a co-worker at church. You know cancer starts with a "little c" in my book, and "Christ is with a BIG C". So we know whom we are going to look to. That's right "Christ" (BIG "C").
Well on July 4th. I was reading my book called Praying Through cancer ( a friend sent to me), and this is what the book said.
It is the name of Jesus which, through faith in him, has brought back the strength of this one whom you see here...that has restored this one to health. (Acts 3:16 NJB)

Shortly after I (not Oraletta, but the writer of this article) was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, I received an e-mail from my niece. She was a medical student at the time and is now a surgeon. Her message was simple, "Aunt, I want the 'Big C' (Christ, that is) to conquer the 'little c' (cancer)." Instantly I responded, where did you find that ? It's awesome." She replied, "I don't know. It just came to me."
Then there is a prayer that ends like this:
"Help me focus on You as my "Big C," ready to crush and triumph over the "little c" that I am coping with now. Above all, I deeply desire that You are praised in this experience. If I can be assured of this, all that is happening is worthwhile for my growth and for Your glory.
THE END OF DEVOTION

Loved Ones, let's look beyond our immediate circumstances ( NOT THAT WE SHOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE PEOPLE DURING ILLNESS), and look for every opportunity to grow in our faith and to glorify our Lord and Savior.

Now for the health report: ALL IS GOING WELL WITH THE TREATMENTS. THEY ARE INTENSE, BUT YET THE LORD IS HELPING ME TO REMAIN FOCUSED AND ON MY FEET. The medications that the doctors are giving me to help with the treatments is working well. Some days I am stronger than others, however, I must say that most days I really do feel good.
OH YES! SOMETHING EXCITING. ON JULY 13TH (THURS.) I AM GOING TO HAVE MY FIRST FREE FACIAL. THAT'S RIGHT LADIES, A FREE RELAXING FACIAL THAT WILL TAKE ABOUT 45 TO 60 MINS. IT EVEN INCLUDES SKIN CARE TIPS, MAKEUP APPLICATION AND COSMETIC COLOR MATCHING.
Truly I plan to take every opportunity to get some "FUN" out of this ADVENTURE.

Until the next time!

Loving ya'll with the love of the lord,
Oraletta (for us both)

P.S. Roosevelt is calming down a bit and not so tense. He's enjoying all the "fattying foods" we are eating.
